MRL Associates - Maria C. Foseid

Maria C. Foseid is a private consultant, working with schools and districts throughout the country, and a consultant for MRL. She has more than 30 years of experience in education. Her experiences include staff development coordinator for the Cherry Creek School District in Englewood, Colorado, trainer for McREL, middle school staff development specialist, and classroom teacher. Her work centers on the study of learning with practical application of the theory and practice supporting student achievement in a standards-based system.

Maria was a member of the Dimensions of Learning consortium led by senior author Dr. Robert J. Marzano. She has implemented this model in the classroom and has done extensive training in Dimensions with K-12 teachers and administrators. Maria has also consulted educators on Dr. Marzano's work, including The Art and Science of Teaching, Classroom Assessment and Grading That Work, Building Academic Vocabulary, Classroom Management That Works, Classroom Instruction That Works, and Teaching Reading in the Content Areas. Maria is coauthor (with Dr. Marzano) of A Handbook for Classroom Management That Works.

Maria received an MEd in curriculum and instruction and a BS in English education from the University of Wisconsin. She completed an educational administration program at the University of Colorado and is a graduate of the 2001 National Staff Development Academy. She is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and Colorado Staff Development Council.
