Action Research Reports

In this section, you’ll find a collection of reports from different schools and districts that participated in action research with Marzano Research Laboratory (MRL). Each report highlights selected instructional strategies and discusses how those strategies enhance student achievement. The reports listed below show a sampling of the schools and districts that have participated. More than 300 volunteer teachers at 38 schools in 14 school districts have participated in action research projects between the fall of 2004 and the spring of 2009.

Vigo County School Corporation

During the 2008-2009 school year, 19 teachers at North Vigo High School and 19 teachers at South Vigo High School participated in independent action research studies regarding the extent to which selected instructional strategies enhanced the learning of students.

Goshen Community Schools

    A Summary of Findings on a Series of Action Research Projects Conducted by Goshen Community Schools
    This report summarizes the findings of an analysis of a series of action research projects conducted by Goshen Community Schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. During the 2008-2009 school year, 40 teachers participated in independent action research studies regarding the extent to which a six-step approach to direct vocabulary instruction enhanced the learning of students.

Blue Springs School District

    Report on Action Research Projects Moreland Ridge Middle School, Blue Springs School District
    During the 2006-2007 school year, 47 volunteer teachers at Moreland Ridge Middle School conducted a series of action research projects for the purpose of examining the extent to which selected instructional strategies enhanced the learning of students.

    Blue Springs School District Instructional Strategies Project: Final Report
    The Blue Springs School District Instructional Strategies Project began in the fall of 2004. It was designed to be a two- to three-year project, the purpose of which was to "institutionalize" effective instructional practices.
