Robin J. Carey, PhD, is an educator with more than thirty years’ experience as a teacher, facilitator, coordinator, and director. She has a passion for meeting the needs of diverse learners.

Robin J. Carey, PhD, is an educator with more than thirty years’ experience as a teacher, facilitator, coordinator, and director, most recently as a research-project coordinator and adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver. Dr. Carey’s focus on serving the needs of diverse learners was developed first as a music teacher and later as a gifted-education facilitator and coordinator. As director of educational programming in the Douglas County School District in Colorado, Dr. Carey facilitated the areas of English-language development, gifted education, and literacy interventions. She has a passion for identifying and serving gifted English learners, presenting on this topic at the local, state, and national levels.

Serving as the president of the Colorado Association of Educational Specialists division of the Colorado Association of School Executives, Dr. Carey was awarded the organization’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013. She is a lifetime member of the National Association for Gifted Children and was inducted into the Colorado Academy of Educators for the Gifted, Talented, and Creative in 2002. She brings passion, diverse interests, and a wealth of experience, allowing her to develop rapport with educators at all levels in a variety of settings.

Dr. Carey earned a bachelor of arts degree in K–12 music education at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota; a master’s degree in special education (gifted) from the University of Northern Colorado; and a PhD in educational administration and policy studies from the University of Denver.
