Carrie Serio
Education Improvement Specialist

Hi, there! My name is Carrie Serio, and I am an Education Improvement Specialist at Marzano Research. I have 20 years of experience in education, with a variety of roles including classroom teacher, interventionist, instructional coach, language specialist, and district coordinator. Each role has given me a new perspective and increased my understanding of what it takes to create and maintain a thriving school environment. Through my experiences, I have developed a passion for school improvement, specifically related to literacy and multilingual learners. I love working alongside teachers and school leaders as they seek continuous growth and increased student outcomes.

I earned a Master of Education degree in Reading as well as an endorsement in Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education from Regis University. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Although I am originally from New Hampshire, I spent two decades in Colorado and now live in Southern California. After trading the mountains for the ocean, my family and I love to spend as much time as possible at the beach.

You can often find me:

  • Lounging under an umbrella at the beach
  • Convincing myself to go for a run
  • Having a kitchen dance party with my daughter

What I could talk about for hours:

  • Literacy instruction
  • All things Bravo TV
  • Places I want to travel
