Managing Senior Education Improvement Specialist
Hello! My name is Matt, and I am a Senior Education Improvement Specialist at Marzano Research. Over the course of my 25-year career in education, I have been a classroom teacher, school administrator, central office leader, and school improvement consultant. Much of that experience was spent leading alternative schools and working with young people looking to return to school to complete their education. My primary areas of expertise are alternative education, dropout prevention and recovery, college and career readiness, and school improvement. I love facilitating groups and working with educators at all levels. I earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education at UCLA and an Ed.D. at the University of Oregon.
I grew up in a small town in California, and after living in Finland, Mexico, and Japan, I landed in Portland with my wife and two daughters. We love taking advantage of everything that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, and we can often be found on hiking trails and at food carts.
