Valerie Malcolm
Graphic Designer

Hi there! My name is Valerie, and I’m a graphic designer here at Marzano Research. My experience in design stretches 20 years: from humble startups to global brands and everything in between. I earned my BFA in graphic design at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I focused my studies on how graphic design can be a force for good in the world.

My formative years were spent in Italy, where Dad worked as a pastor. We came back to the United States in 1995, where I started high school and got a crash course in American culture. Eventually, life brought me to Portland, OR (the most European of the States), where I live with my husband and our son. We enjoy walking along the river, gardening our ever-growing landscaping projects, and making new house/family rules as we attempt parenting for the first (and final) time.

You can often find me:

  • Singing
  • Baking
  • Kitchen dancing
  • Gardening
  • Talking to spirits

What I could talk about for hours:

  • Emotional intelligence and how it heals individuals and the communities around them
  • Choices in movie/television plots, directing, voice-over acting
  • Beyoncé Giselle Carter-Knowles
