“I am passionate about telling the stories and providing the facts communities need to impact change in the systems affecting them—and there is no more impactful a system than education.”
Joseph explores his passion for storytelling and communication as the communications manager for the research department. Through his work, Joseph facilitates an understanding of research-based education and enhances access to knowledge and tools that improve kids’ futures.
In his role, Joseph provides strategic direction and oversight for the communications team and leads dissemination for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Central. He works with the communications team to provide tools, content, and strategies for Marzano Research and REL Central communications, and he partners with state and local education agencies to improve outreach and visibility of education resources. To better communicate the department’s work, Joseph also disseminates stories related to education research to the media through integrated campaigns.
Joseph brings well over a decade of media-related experience to Marzano Research. A former political and investigative reporter, researcher, communications director, and consultant, Joseph has led communications teams and campaigns in areas such as education, health care, economic and racial justice, and politics. Most recently, Joseph strengthened internal and external communication of Denver Public Schools’ compensation system, provided strategic communications direction for a political campaign and office, oversaw communications strategy and implementation for legislative and municipal bills at one of the largest advocacy organizations in Colorado, and provided communications and content strategy to aid in ensuring access to health care for all.
Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree in English and psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
