Mario Acosta has served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, new teacher professional development specialist, professional development consultant, assistant principal, academic director, and principal. Mario has led three public school campuses in implementing the High Reliability Schools framework and the campuswide movement to standards-referenced grading. Mario’s campuses have earned certifications at levels one, two, and three of the High Reliability Schools framework.

Mario is the principal at Westwood High School in Texas. Westwood High School is a Newsweek top 50 campus and is a member of the High Reliability Schools network. Mario specializes in campus-level implementation of effective campus culture, professional learning communities, instructional improvement, response to intervention, standards-referenced grading, and the High Reliability Schools framework.

Mario is currently completing his EdD in educational administration from the University of Texas. He holds a superintendent certification in the state of Texas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Texas and a master’s degree from Lamar University.
