Trudy L. Cherasaro, PhD, is director of research at Marzano Research. She leads research and technical support projects for REL Central.
Dr. Cherasaro has directed several research and evaluation projects, including the evaluation of the teacher performance assessment system in Denver Public Schools and a teacher quality enhancement grant at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She was also a study director on a large-scale randomized controlled trial of a supplemental vocabulary program.
Dr. Cherasaro has provided leadership in the evaluation of several federally funded state and district initiatives including the Early Reading First program in Iowa, the Reading First initiatives in Virginia and South Dakota, and the Advanced Placement incentive program in Maine. She served as a coordinator of research and evaluation in Albemarle County Public Schools in Virginia, where she directed the evaluation of district- and school-based programs and initiatives, advised leadership on district and school improvement planning, and advised instructional administrators, principals, and lead teachers on the development, analysis, and administration of assessments.
She has taught graduate and certification courses in instructional strategies, curriculum differentiation, gifted education, child development, research methods, and standards and assessment.
Dr. Cherasaro holds a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Virginia and is certified as a What Works Clearinghouse reviewer.
