Mike Siebersma
Director

Hey there. My name is Mike, and I direct our consulting and coaching work at Marzano Research. I’ve been in education for over 20 years and was a teacher, middle school principal, and school improvement coordinator before starting out in consulting. I got a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northwestern College and a Master’s in school leadership from the University of Sioux Falls.

I have Midwestern roots, growing up in a small town in Iowa. I’ve lived in five states, from Florida to Oregon, and currently live on the shore of a quiet lake in South Dakota. My wife and I have a 12-year-old daughter and 3 college-aged kids scattered across the country, from Oregon to South Dakota to Maryland.

People who know me well would tell you:

  • I love to run.
  • I’m crazy about my family.
  • I like having a white-collar job and being a blue-collar guy in my time off.

Books that have influenced me

  • Humble Consulting, Ed Schein
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, Stephen Covey
  • School Leadership that Works, Bob Marzano et al.
  • The Bible
